We are meeting all the shortlisted nominees ahead of this year's
Gill Chase Award, which will be announced on December 11. They have all
been put forward for special recognition for their hard work and
dedication in the annual event to celebrate our fantastic staff.
Andrea changed her career from complementary therapist to carer and hasn’t looked back since starting with Extra Hands.
She had worked with us for more than two-and-a-half years and enjoys helping her service users in her ‘patch’ of the Taverham and Drayton area, where she heads each day from her Dereham home.
“I have absolutely lovely service users and really enjoy what I do,” she said.
She added that anyone considering going into the caring profession needed to realise it wasn’t all about drinking tea and chatting.
“You have to be prepared to get involved and hands-on. It can be very hectic, but it is very rewarding” she added.
“Andrea has a very calm way about her,” says the nomination.
She is described as having a quiet efficiency and great understanding while always paying close attention to detail.
