I recently
completed and passed my Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care with the
College of West Anglia. I received a phone call from my college assessor who
informed me I had been nominated for the Apprentice of the Year Awards, I never
in a million years expected to win, I was just so happy that I had been
shortlisted and felt this was an achievement in itself. When I found out that I
had actually won the award I was completely shocked and overwhelmed, I quit
college half way through when I was 17 so to be able to go back and gain a
qualification as well as carry on my full time job was perfect for me, let alone
to be commended and have my efforts recognised. It has boosted my confidence
and self-esteem immensely and I’m so grateful to all those involved who
supported me along the way.
My mum, my
best friend and my manager came with me on the night and we all had a lovely
evening. I felt slightly apprehensive about going up on stage in front of a
room full of people (not to mention tackling the stairs in my heels!), I’m not
a person who enjoys the attention or the limelight but the night was so relaxed
and everyone was lovely so my nerves soon left me.
I am so
proud of myself for my achievements since joining the Extra Hands team and it
is by far the best decision I have made to pursue a career with them. I want to
thank Extra Hands for allowing me the opportunity to carry out and complete my
Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care and my friends and family who helped
and supported me when I needed a push. My colleagues have all been amazing, we
are a great group of friends too and their support and congratulations has been
very welcomed. I’m looking forward to taking my qualifications further by
completing my Level 4 at some point during my career but for now I’m more than
happy doing what I’m doing!
