At
Extra Hands we know the importance of putting in that little bit of
extra effort, and the transformative effect that can have on our service
users.
The
GEM Awards recognise those carers who go above and beyond to provide
exceptional levels of care, making a huge difference to those they are
helping.
Our
latest two winners embody that selfless spirit, both ‘going the extra
mile’ to give outstanding service to those in their care.
Winner
Vanessa Parker, who works from the Broadland office, was nominated for
her help in caring for a service user who was bleeding from the head,
having fallen from his wheelchair.
She was praised for looking after the injured man and for staying by his side until the ambulance arrived.
The Heacham office winner was Trina Bussey, who has been with Extra Hands for almost 20 years.
She
won her GEM Award after she was nominated by the grateful son of two
service users for her ‘tireless patience and assistance with my parents –
no easy task at all!’
He
added: “I very much appreciate Trina’s care and support, and she
definitely goes beyond what is required for her visits. She has picked
up my mum wandering in the village a couple of times, and is just about
the only person my dad listens to.”
The
two worthy winners were selected from a host of nominees, showing just
how appreciated our carers are, and what a positive impact they can have
on the lives of our service users and their families.
We are very grateful to Vanessa and Trina, and all the other amazing nominees.
