We are meeting all the shortlisted nominees ahead of this year's
Gill Chase Award, which will be announced on December 11. They have all
been put forward for special recognition for their hard work and
dedication in the annual event to celebrate our fantastic staff.
Joanne has years of experience in caring, including family members, and works full-time for Extra Hands.
Her care for service users means she even feels guilty if she takes time off for a holiday and looks forward to getting back to them.
“I do feel guilty, I couldn’t just take time off and not. I have recently had an operation and need a month off work which has been really difficult,” she added.
She works out of the Broadland office and lives in the Spixworth area and has been shortlisted previously for the Gill Chase award.
Joanne has cared for her disabled daughter for more than 20 years, along with other family members. She also has a son and four grandchildren so Christmas is likely to be a busy time!
“My mother’s carer for more than two years. She has always acted in a professional way but very friendly and pleasant,” says her nomination.
“Knowing mum is in safe hands alleviates much of my anxiety. We are very lucky to have Joanne as mum’s main carer,” adds the form.
