We
are delighted to announce that one of our company director’s Hazel Evans was
presented with the 'Harold Bodmer Outstanding Achievement Award' at the Norfolk
Care Awards 2018.
The
award was created in memory of the former executive director of Norfolk
County Council’s Adult Social Services who died suddenly in 2016. The award goes to someone who has made a significant contribution to the advancement or development of care practices in the local area. The individual presented with this award will have demonstrated great personal commitment and dedication to the service they deliver and to care and support services in their local area. The ceremony
was held at Sprowston Manor on Thursday 22nd February and hosted
by actor, comedian and writer Karl Minns.
Hazel
said “I am absolutely delighted to have won this very special award, I have
been working in care since 1987 and my passion and drive has always been to
raise the profile of social care in Norfolk.”
"To
win this accolade is an absolute honour both personally and for my company and
I am very proud of the outstanding levels of service that Extra Hands has
provided over the last 25 years and will continue to do so for many years to
come."
Sadly
Hazel wasn’t able to be at the evening to collect her award so in order for her
to not miss out, the organisers arranged to meet with Hazel three days before on
the premise that they were videoing the shortlisted finalists, but Hazel was
unaware that they were going to present her with the award during the filming. You
will see from the photo that it was a massive surprise to her and Hazel
described it as being like a Cilla Black Surprise Surprise moment. You can
watch the awards ceremony in their entirety by clicking this link https://youtu.be/oxys4DtkSCU,
however if you want to skip to Hazel’s award then please move forward to 1 hour 26mins and 10 seconds on the video.
Extra
Hands is extremely proud that we have won at these awards for the fourth time
in five years, we were also highly commended in this year's ‘Promoting
Dignity & Respect in Everyday Life’ Category.
