Small gestures have been shown to make a big difference after Sharon Jarvis was named as one of the winners of our inaugural GEM awards.
Sharon, who works out of the Heacham office and has been with the company for 18 years, was nominated for Going the Extra Mile by some of her care users for her exceptional devotion to duty and detail in looking after them.
But she took it all in her stride, replying modestly that: "Too often we underestimate the power of a smile, friendly chat or the smallest act of kindness, which can make all the difference to someone’s day."
The pandemic has had a huge impact on everyone involved in the care sector, at all stages, and Sharon's dedication has certainly caught the eye of the service users she visits on her rounds.
“Sharon is an excellent carer at the best of times, but since my operations, she has gone the extra mile,” said one of her nominators, who had recently undergone heart surgery. She’s always caring ... I would be lost without her.”
Another user, whose family is affected by dementia, praised Sharon for her “consistently calm and professional manner in all her dealings with us.”
Sharon, along with the other inaugural award winner from our Broadland office, Jools Saunter, will receive a trophy and gift vouchers as a sign of the company's appreciation of the hard work she has put into caring for her clients and upholding the company's reputation for professionalism, care and quality service.
We launched the awards after receiving many comments about the wonderful work our team has been doing and how much appreciation there is for making an extra effort.
