Here at Extra Hands we’re very lucky to have an amazing team of professional, reliable carers and we know that they are our greatest asset. Without their patience, kindness and relentless hard work we wouldn’t be able to provide the outstanding level of care that we do. 

  • The Gill Chase Annual Care Award is a way for us to recognise the hard work and dedication our staff put into delivering high quality person-centred care and support to Extra Hands customers, whilst demonstrating dignity and respect in their working too.

The Origin of the Award 

This sought after award is named in honour of a long serving carer with Extra Hands, Gill Chase, who sadly passed away in 2014. Gill was a loyal, committed carer working in the community to support her clients. The award represents everything that Gill incorporated into her working day; respect, compassion but most of all she brought sunshine and laughter into people’s lives on a daily basis which never faltered. 

Nominations: 

The award is open to any member of Extra Hands; nominations open mid-September. 

The closing date for nominations is the 31st October each year. A judging panel made up of Managers and Service Users meet in November to confidentially discuss nominations against a set criteria and agree a list of shortlisted staff; from this a winner from each office and an overall winner is decided.

An award presentation is held in December each year and all shortlisted finalists are invited along with the people who made the nominations.
