The Extra Hands Training ProcessFollowing a very robust selection process, all new carers attend a comprehensive induction programme leading to each staff member receiving their Care Certificate, as is required by law. This course is then supported with regular refresher training plus additional and specialist training. All our staff are also actively encouraged to undertake a diploma in Health and Social Care which we fully support, working closely with the College Of West Anglia. We are one of the few care companies to have a specialist training department, where all our training is conducted in a classroom based environment. This allows us to ensure all our staff are getting the most from their training which, in turn, ensures you get the most from your carers. Ongoing Mentoring & MonitoringOnce a new member of staff commences employment with Extra Hands they will undertake the in-house Induction Training programme, which will includes shadowing a qualified and experienced carer. Before a carer can commence lone working, observations, monitoring and mentoring will all take place. This ensures that they are fully competent in their work practice before they start attending visits alone. ALL staff (old and new) are fully supported and receive a minimum of 3 supervisions, 1 appraisal, 4 staff meetings and 2 monitoring visits per year.
