"Everyone said it would be awful and intrusive having people coming into our house and our lives when my partner needed carers, but without exception the Extra Hands staff have been fantastic.
"My partner Steve has MS and when he came out of hospital, his NHS carers recommended Extra Hands. It turned out to be a superb choice. Right from the start, it felt good.
"The first time we met an Extra Hands carer, she was one of the funniest people I’d ever met, and instantly we knew we were in good hands and had made the right decision employing their services. Their staff have the right combination of light-heartedness and professionalism, and even if he’s had a bad night, by the time the carers have got Steve sorted out and helped him down the stairs, he’s raring and ready to go for the day.
"I don’t feel awkward with them around at all - if anything, it slows the day down because we have such a good time with them, it’s like having a best friend come round every day. Even the woman who came to do Steve’s assessment turned out to have gone to the same school as him, so that was a nice ice breaker.
"The office staff have always been great to deal with as well – they’ve got a Norwich office now so the organisation is growing, but it’s not an issue, they’re still in touch with their roots and have the personal touch.
"Extra Hands staff are the perfect people to have in your home - they do the job and more. They’re discreet if they need to be and it’s never awkward, I cannot praise them highly enough.
"For me as the primary carer for so many years, it’s fabulous. I’m sleeping properly now and I’m not worried. Any time there’s any sort of worry you call them, you just don’t feel you’re on your own any more."
