Receiving nominations for our Going the Extra Mile Awards is a great way of celebrating the good work our carers and team members do day-in day-out.
The award is our way of letting everyone know that extra effort is recognised and appreciated by both colleagues and service users, and reading praise of individuals makes us all proud.
September’s nominations make good reading and outline the qualities we look for before picking a winner of the GEM Award.
From our Broadland nominations, Rebecca Moore is passionate about her care and ‘she will always go the extra mile for the people she cares for. Bringing a loving touch and bubbly attitude to people’s homes.’
Another said: “Rebecca has shown compassion, empathy and commitment to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our service users,” said the nomination which added that she also supported new care staff.
Kate Davis was also nominated for being ‘very caring and always immaculate, she is very professional.’
Among the nominees at our Heacham office was Julie Hughes who ‘always manages to put a smile on everyone’s faces, even if they don't want to!’
Our June winner Tony Lasham was nominated again, for his help with colleagues as their Mental Health Champion.
Andy Barlow was also nominated for being so helpful, ‘He was absolutely fabulous . . . thank you so much for sending him,” said the family of a service user.
There was a hat-trick of nominations for Peter Cox who was praised for his striving to go the extra mile for service users - including taking clocks home to repair.
“He seems like such a smiley, positive individual. From what I know, he hasn’t worked in care before, but he has taken on the role that I feel he was made for,” said one.
Another nomination said: “Definitely goes above and beyond. Every single time I’ve worked with him he always does his best to go the extra step.”
His kindness has also been noticed, with service-users commenting on his gentle nature.
“He can’t do enough, nothing is too much trouble for him. He most definitely deserves this award.”
We congratulate all our nominees for the September award - each of them sounds like a winner to us!
